Pittsburgh-based Lanxess to acquire phosphorus additives business

Lanxess, a specialty chemicals company, announced it plans to acquire a phosphorus chemicals business with a U.S. production site from Solvay, a Belgian-based chemical group.

The transaction should be finalized during the first half of 2018, according to a news release.

Lanxess’s main business is the manufacturing, development and marketing of additives, chemical intermediates and specialty chemicals and plastics. The company made about $9 billion, or 7.7 billion euros, in sales in 2016 and employs…
