City Hall Renovations Continue

Renovation work at Georgetown City Hall is still underway, and the building remains closed to the public this week. City officials say the project is progressing, but offices will continue operating out of temporary locations around downtown for now. Regular weekday business hours remain unchanged, allowing residents to access services without adjusting schedules.

Because departments are spread across multiple sites, city staff are encouraging residents to confirm office locations before making an in-person visit. This is especially important for residents who may not have visited City Hall since the renovations began, or who need to meet with a specific department.

Planning and Zoning Meetings This Month

Local land use and development discussions remain active across Scott County as February meetings move forward. The Georgetown–Scott County Planning Commission is scheduled to meet on February 12 at the Scott County Courthouse. The meeting will continue the commission’s regular review of development proposals, zoning issues, and long-term planning matters affecting both the city and the surrounding county.

Earlier this week, the Scott County Board of Adjustment also held a meeting to review zoning and variance requests. These sessions are part of the county’s ongoing development review process and provide a forum for property owners and officials to address specific land use concerns.

Property Tax Payments and Deadlines

The City of Georgetown is continuing to accept 2025 property tax payments through multiple options. Residents can pay online, by mail, or in person at the City Clerk’s temporary office location. Officials note that payment methods and deadlines remain the same despite the City Hall closure.

For residents with older or delinquent property tax balances, the city says those accounts can still be resolved through separate payment services. City staff encourage property owners to review their accounts and take care of any outstanding balances to avoid future complications.

With February now underway, city officials say additional public meetings and updates on infrastructure projects are expected in the coming weeks.
