NDSU leads the NSF Great Plains I-Corps Hub, which announced the agriculture-technology-focused cohort on April 27. Ag45 is scheduled as a seven-session program running virtually from Aug. 13 through Sept. 24.

The Fargo portion is set for four days within that program window. Participants are scheduled to take part in panels and lectures in the city, where NDSU’s Research and Technology Park is located.

The cohort is intended to connect technology teams with the practical questions involved in commercialization. The announcement describes a program designed to help researchers and innovators understand paths to market, rather than one that guarantees investment, sales or a commercial launch.

Farm and autonomous-technology events are on the agenda

Participants are also scheduled to attend the Big Iron Farm and Construction Show and Grand Farm’s Autonomous Nation Conference. The itinerary gives teams exposure to agricultural producers, agribusiness and technology partners alongside the cohort’s instructional programming.

That focus matters because moving a technology from research or early development toward use in agriculture requires more than showing that an idea can work in a limited setting.
