Bristol Town Council scheduled a public hearing and consideration for Aug. 6, 2026, on a proposed Bristol Innovation Park planned-unit-development rezoning.

By Brian Bateman

Bristol Town Council scheduled a public hearing and consideration for 7 p.m. Aug. 6, 2026, on a proposed rezoning for Bristol Innovation Park, a planned-unit development that Elkhart County planning materials identify as a data-center project.

The scheduled council action is the next confirmed step for a proposal that could affect land-use decisions in Bristol. A town decision could determine whether the proposed industrial technology development advances under the requested planned-unit-development zoning.

For nearby residents, property owners, commuters, taxpayers and local businesses, the confirmed immediate development is the town’s scheduled review. The approved record does not provide enough information to quantify effects on utilities, traffic, construction activity, taxes or surrounding properties.

County recommendation preceded town consideration

Elkhart County Planning & Development’s July 2026 Bristol planning packet identifies Bristol Innovation Park as a planned-unit-development proposal and labels it a data-center development.

The available county planning record says the county planning board recommended rejection of the rezoning proposal before the matter went to the Bristol Town Council. That recommendation is part of the planning process; it is not the final decision by Bristol’s governing body.

The official Town of Bristol legal-notice page scheduled the public hearing and council consideration for Aug. 6 at 7 p.m. The town’s official meeting listing also identifies an Aug. 6, 2026, Bristol Town Council meeting.

Final status is not established

The approved record does not show the result of the Aug. 6 consideration. It does not establish whether the council approved the proposal, rejected it or continued the matter. The available materials also do not include a vote tally or final ordinance text.

Several project details remain absent from the record reviewed for this report. The materials do not provide the proposal’s acreage, expected power demand, expected water demand, employment estimate or construction schedule. Those figures cannot be inferred from the project’s description as a data center.

That means the scheduled hearing and consideration should not be treated as a completed approval, rejection or construction authorization. The next known date in the approved record is the Aug. 6 town proceeding. The proposal’s final status would require the council’s official minutes, ordinance or meeting recording.
