Snohomish County’s July 27 road update lists daytime lane closures for telecommunications and underground fiber work on Jim Creek Road and N. Cedarvale Loop Road in the Arlington area.

Drivers using roads in the Arlington, WA, area should expect reduced roadway capacity and daytime work-zone delays as telecommunications and underground fiber projects move forward. Snohomish County’s July 27, 2026, road update lists a new single-lane closure on Jim Creek Road from Aug. 5 through Aug. 12.

The Jim Creek Road closure is scheduled daily from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. The work involves aerial overlash, roadway boring and installation of telecommunications facilities. County materials identify ATCO Telecommunications in connection with the work.

What is scheduled on Jim Creek Road

The county notice describes approximately 340 feet of aerial overlash and approximately 820 feet of hand digging as part of the Jim Creek Road project. Because one lane will be closed during the listed daytime hours, people traveling the route should plan for less available roadway capacity while crews are working.

The notice does not identify the final broadband provider for the fiber-related work or say how many customers the completed facilities may serve. It also does not promise a particular improvement in broadband service levels or establish a completion date beyond the schedule listed for the Jim Creek Road work.

N. Cedarvale Loop Road work

The same Arlington/Oso section of the county road update lists a separate project on N. Cedarvale Loop Road. That project involves underground fiber facilities and alternating-lane control.

The county’s notice identifies the roads as being in the Arlington area, but it does not establish that every listed road segment lies within Arlington city limits. The practical effect for commuters, workers, farmers, families and local businesses is scheduled traffic control on roads used to reach homes, jobs and other destinations in and around the area.

Separate resurfacing program also lists Arlington roads

The telecommunications work is separate from Snohomish County’s summer road-resurfacing program. In a May 7, 2026, announcement, the county said the program would resurface approximately 53 miles of roads countywide.

That program assigns eight Arlington-area road locations totaling approximately five miles. The county’s announcement describes the broader resurfacing effort, while the July 27 road update provides the specific telecommunications and fiber-related traffic information for Jim Creek Road and N. Cedarvale Loop Road.

For now, the clearest deadline in the road notice is Aug. 12 for the listed Jim Creek Road single-lane closure, with work scheduled during the day. The approved county materials provide no later completion date for the N. Cedarvale Loop Road project or additional details about the eventual broadband service.
