Fayus expanded its voluntary recall to four OLA-OLA pounded yam package sizes distributed in six U.S. states, Canada and Australia.

Fayus Inc., doing business as Yusol International Foods, has expanded its voluntary recall of OLA-OLA POUNDED YAM because some packages may contain sodium caseinate, a milk derivative, that was not declared on the label. The Food and Drug Administration posted Fayus’s July 17, 2026, company announcement as a public service.

The expanded recall covers 2-, 4-, 5- and 10-pound packages with expiration dates from November 2028 through May 2029. The affected products are in clear plastic bags without a milk declaration. Packages that correctly declare the milk allergen are not included.

People with a milk allergy or severe sensitivity should not consume qualifying packages. Consumers should check the package size, expiration date and allergen declaration, then follow the recall instructions. Distribution outlets may exchange affected product for correctly labeled product or a relabeled or reconditioned package.

How to identify the recalled packages

The FDA notice says the product may contain undeclared milk in the form of sodium caseinate. The warning is based on the possibility that a package meets the listed size, date and labeling criteria; it does not say that every recalled package contains the ingredient.

Consumers with questions can contact Fayus at 916-383-1124, Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Pacific time, or at info@yusolfood.com. The company’s notice directs affected distribution outlets to arrange an exchange or relabeling.

Distribution covered six U.S. states

Distribution was through African and Caribbean market outlets in Canada, Australia and six U.S. states: California, Georgia, Illinois, New Jersey, New York and Texas. The distribution period ran from December 2025 through May 2026.

The FDA posting identifies Fayus as a Sacramento, California, company doing business as Yusol International Foods. The FDA page labels the notice a “company announcement” and says the agency posts such announcements as a public service. The page does not present the recall as an independent FDA enforcement action.

The company’s initial recall announcement was dated July 6, 2026, and FDA published it July 7. That initial announcement covered products with expiration dates from November 2028 through May 2029 that lacked a dairy allergen declaration. Fayus announced the expansion on July 17 and specified the four package sizes now covered.

The FDA-posted announcement attributes the expansion to Fayus’s internal investigation. The company said some packages were produced and packaged during a temporary breakdown in its production and packaging processes. That explanation is Fayus’s account of how the labeling problem occurred.

Canadian warning and removal effort

In Canada, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency listed corresponding packages in 0.907-kilogram, 1.815-kilogram, 2.267-kilogram and 4.535-kilogram sizes when milk is not declared on the label. CFIA issued its original warning June 26, 2026, and updated it July 16 with additional product information and sizes.

CFIA said the Canadian recall was triggered by a consumer complaint. It classified the warning as a Class 1 food recall, said it was verifying removal from the marketplace and reported that its food-safety investigation was ongoing. The agency said the investigation could lead to recalls of other products.

The FDA notice reported no illnesses or injuries connected with the issue. Separately, CFIA reported no reactions associated with the Canadian products. Those statements apply to the respective notices and do not establish that no reaction occurred in every location where the product was distributed.

Canadian consumers and businesses should not consume, serve, use, sell or distribute recalled product. CFIA advises that it be discarded or returned. The FDA notice does not provide a total number of affected units, so consumers must rely on the package size, expiration date, clear packaging and allergen-label information to identify qualifying products.

FDA says Fayus Inc. recalled Ola-Ola Pounded Yam because some packages may contain undeclared milk allergen (sodium caseinate). Check Nov 2028–May 2029 dates.

FDA says Fayus Inc. (doing business as Yusol International Foods) is voluntarily recalling Ola-Ola Pounded Yam because some packages may contain undeclared milk in the form of sodium caseinate, even though milk is not listed on the label.

What changed (and why it matters)

FDA says the problem involves labeling, not a typical contamination issue: the dairy allergen was not disclosed on some recalled packages. FDA notes no illnesses or injuries have been reported to date that are connected to this issue.

Which packages are affected

Check for both identifiers below:

Expiration dates: November 2028 through May 2029

Labeling condition: milk is not listed on the package

Who should act immediately

FDA warns that people with a milk allergy or severe milk sensitivity should not eat the affected product, because an allergic reaction could be serious or life-threatening.

What to do now

Do not consume the recalled item if you have a milk allergy or severe sensitivity and your package matches the criteria above.

Return it to the place of purchase for an exchange or a warning-sticker labeled replacement—following the recall instructions posted by FDA.

Where it was sold—and what to watch next

FDA says the recall applies to specific lots/packages meeting the expiration-date and labeling criteria. For the exact distribution outlets, readers should use the product-specific identifiers in the FDA recall notice. Texas’s health agency also tracks FDA food recalls, which can help you monitor whether additional retailer guidance or updates appear as the recall moves through stores.

United States Food Drug and Consumer Safety - FDA says Ola-Ola Pounded Yam may contain undeclared milk allergen; check expiration dates Nov 2028–May 2029.

FDA has posted a voluntary food recall for OLA-OLA POUNDED YAM after the company said some packages may contain an undeclared milk allergen—a risk for people with milk allergy or severe milk sensitivity.

Timing: Fayus Inc. (dba Yusol International Foods) announced the recall on July 6, 2026, and FDA published the notice on July 7, 2026.

The alert is the kind of “label check” problem that can be easy to miss at the grocery store: the recall applies only to specific products identified by expiration dates from November 2028 through May 2029, and only when the dairy allergen is not listed on the label.

What changed: undeclared milk allergen in some OLA-OLA POUNDED YAM

According to the FDA recall notice, Fayus Inc. (doing business as Yusol International Foods) initiated the recall because some packaged OLA-OLA POUNDED YAM may contain milk in the form of sodium caseinate that is not declared on the product label.

The company attributes the problem to a temporary breakdown in its production and packaging process. FDA says no illnesses or injuries have been reported to date related to this issue.

Which product to check right now

FDA says the recalled product is packaged in a clear bag and can be identified by the expiration dates printed on the front:

November 2028 through May 2029

Crucially, FDA says this recall only applies to products with those expiration dates when the dairy allergen is not listed. In other words, not every bag of Ola-Ola pounded yam is part of this recall.

Where the product was distributed

FDA reports that OLA-OLA POUNDED YAM was distributed through outlets between December 2025 and May 2026 in:

California

Georgia

Illinois

New Jersey

New York

Texas

FDA also notes distribution in Canada and Australia.

Who is at highest risk

FDA highlights that people with a milk allergy or severe milk sensitivity face the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they eat the affected product.

What to do if you bought it

If you have a milk allergy or severe sensitivity, FDA says you should not consume the affected product.

Instead, FDA says you can return it to the place of purchase for:

an exchange for a correctly labeled product, or

a warning-sticker–labeled replacement.

FDA also reports that Fayus Inc. is working to apply dairy allergen warning stickers to affected products that remain on store shelves.

What to watch next

FDA maintains an ongoing recalls list and consumer-focused recall/alert pages. If you’re tracking this recall for family members with food allergies, check those FDA pages for updates to the recall’s status and any additional identification details that may be posted.

If someone experiences symptoms after eating a product they believe may contain an undeclared allergen, follow their existing allergy action plan and seek medical care promptly.
