Baton Rouge officials closed public comment on a draft 2026 plan covering four federal programs for housing, homelessness and community development.

Baton Rouge–East Baton Rouge Parish officials have closed the public-comment period for a draft 2026 Action Plan covering several federal housing and community-development programs. The comment period ran from July 9 through Aug. 8, 2026, and invited city-parish residents to respond.

The draft was completed by the Mayor’s Office of Community Development. It covers four federal grant programs: Community Development Block Grant, HOME Investment Partnerships, Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS and Emergency Solutions Grant.

Together, those programs guide the city-parish’s proposed use of federal funds for housing, homelessness, community development and related public-health needs. The close of the comment period marks the end of the public input window, but it is not the same as final approval or a completed spending decision.

What happens next

The public notice does not disclose final funding allocations by program or project, and it does not provide a date for adoption of the final plan. The city-parish’s Agenda Center lists public meetings and documents, including Metropolitan Council activity relevant to subsequent local-government action. Future city-parish documents will show how funds are allocated across projects and programs.

Lyndhurst will continue participating in Bergen County’s CDBG, HOME and ESG entitlement programs, preserving eligibility for future housing, infrastructure and public-service funding.

LYNDHURST, N.J. — Lyndhurst adopted a resolution June 24 continuing its participation in Bergen County’s Urban County entitlement programs, keeping the township eligible to pursue future federal funding for housing, community development, infrastructure-related improvements and public services.

The programs include the Community Development Block Grant, HOME Investment Partnerships and Emergency Solutions Grant. The participation covers fiscal years 2027, 2028 and 2029, with the stated program period running from July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2030.

What the commitment does

The resolution creates a framework through which Lyndhurst can pursue funding for eligible projects during the multi-year period. Potential program uses identified in the approved materials include housing rehabilitation, quality-of-life improvements, infrastructure-related work, senior and youth services, homelessness prevention and other public services.

Bergen County’s Community Development Block Grant program says CDBG funds can support municipal, regional and countywide quality-of-life improvements. The county lists housing, infrastructure-related improvements, senior and youth services, homelessness prevention and economic-development services among eligible activities.

For Lyndhurst residents, homeowners, renters, local businesses and service providers, the immediate effect is continued eligibility to seek support through the county’s program structure. The resolution does not itself identify a Lyndhurst road project, housing rehabilitation project, homeless-services initiative or other specific use.

No award or dollar amount yet

Lyndhurst’s action is a participation commitment, not an announcement of awarded money. The available materials do not identify a specific project, award amount or construction schedule. Participation preserves eligibility, but it does not guarantee that the township will receive a future grant.

That distinction matters because future funding would still depend on project applications and the applicable county and federal program processes. The resolution establishes the township’s continued participation; it does not approve a particular application or commit a stated amount of public money.

Next deadline

The resolution had to be forwarded to Bergen County by July 20, 2026. The participation period begins July 1, 2026, and ends June 30, 2030, while the covered fiscal years are listed as 2027 through 2029.

As of the approved source materials, no separate Lyndhurst project or funding award had been identified. The next known step is the county’s receipt and processing of the township’s continued-participation resolution.
