June 25 flooding in St. Charles County sent water over roads near Mexico Road and Cave Springs, keeping Lake St. Louis stormwater planning in focus.

Heavy rain on Thursday, June 25, sent water across roads in St. Charles County, including a stretch near Mexico Road and Cave Springs where a First Alert 4 viewer said floodwater reached car tires. Another resident reported flooding between Zumbehl and Cave Springs, and a photographer saw high water off Veterans Memorial in the same area.

The National Weather Service also logged flash flooding in St. Charles at 3:52 p.m. that day, with 4 to 5 inches of swift-moving water on Kingshighway in front of Lindenwood. That makes the event more than a brief nuisance: it was a documented flash-flood incident with road impact.

Why Lake St. Louis residents should care

For Lake St. Louis, the bigger question is how repeated heavy rain affects drainage, floodplain rules, and stormwater planning. St. Charles County says flooding is common here and points residents to flood insurance, flood maps, preparedness tools, permits, inspections, and long-term mitigation work.

Lake Saint Louis has its own storm water management program through Public Works, including a 2021-2026 storm water management plan and storm sewer maps. The city also says residents can submit comments or feedback on the program through Public Works.

The practical takeaway is simple: when storms drop several inches in a short time, the first signs often show up on roads. After that, the pressure can move into ditches, basins, culverts, and neighborhood runoff problems. Residents who see recurring standing water have a clear place to report it before the next heavy rain arrives.
