The next known timing in the plan is the listed project-year schedule: several major projects are assigned to 2028, while the North I-25 East and West Interchange project is assigned to 2029. Hospital project gets an official name

Valencia County’s long-awaited hospital project in Los Lunas now has a formal name: Valencia County Hospital: A Lovelace Operation. County leaders say the new facility will rise just west of the Los Lunas Walmart near I-25, with foundations for the building expected to be finished in the coming weeks. The hospital is still projected to open by late June 2026 if construction stays on schedule, bringing an emergency department, operating rooms, and basic imaging services closer to home for local residents.

Council meeting set for Thursday night

The village council’s next regular meeting is scheduled for Thursday, February 12, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the council chambers on Main Street. The agenda for the meeting was posted on February 6, giving residents a few days to look over the items up for discussion before the gavel drops. Village officials continue to encourage people to read the agenda online, attend in person, or follow along through official channels if they want a say in how growth, roads, and services are managed.

Tigers hit the road for wrestling dual

Los Lunas High School wrestlers wrapped up the school week with a road dual at Rio Grande in Albuquerque on Friday, February 6. The matchup is part of the Tigers’ late-season tune-up ahead of postseason competition, giving athletes more mat time against metro-area opponents. For families and fans, it was another chance to follow one of the village’s most consistently competitive programs away from home.

Quiet weather, busy weeks ahead

Today looks seasonably mild and sunny across the Rio Grande valley, with afternoon highs in the mid-60s and cool, clear conditions after sunset. Around town, the village calendar stays active later this month, with a Planning and Zoning hearing set for February 18 and a full slate of teen programs and STEAM classes at the public library.
