Feasterville Trevose PA - The June 30 derailment occurred in Bensalem, but evacuation, road closures and SEPTA disruption reached the local community.

Feasterville-Trevose residents were affected by the June 30 CSX train derailment even though the incident occurred in neighboring Bensalem Township. The latest approved state report shows that emergency restrictions were lifted after inspections found no reported leaks or threatened waterways, but parts of the rail cleanup remained unresolved as of July 8.

For residents and commuters, the distinction matters: the end of evacuation and shelter-in-place orders did not mean that rail-car removal, hazardous-material offloading, environmental monitoring or site restoration were complete.

What happened near Bensalem

Approximately 13 CSX rail cars derailed near Bristol Road and Grove Road in Bensalem Township on June 30. Two of the derailed cars contained hazardous materials, prompting evacuation and shelter-in-place orders in the surrounding area.

Local effects reached the Feasterville-Trevose area through road closures, SEPTA disruption and emergency response activity. The Feasterville Fire Company and Lower Southampton emergency agencies assisted during the response, according to local reporting on the incident.

Those impacts were tied to the nearby derailment site, not to a derailment inside Feasterville-Trevose. Feasterville and Trevose are communities within Lower Southampton Township in Bucks County.

What officials confirmed about safety

Inspections reported after the derailment found no leaks and no threatened waterways. Based on those findings, officials lifted the evacuation and shelter-in-place orders.

That information addresses the immediate emergency response, but it does not establish that every cleanup or environmental obligation had been completed. The absence of a reported leak should not be read as a final environmental closeout or a long-term health assessment.

Cleanup questions remained on July 8

The Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency’s July 8 daily incident report said cleanup monitoring was continuing. An empty tank car was being routed for transfer of isopropanol, while a car containing adipic acid remained under CSX responsibility without a scheduled offload date in the report.

Contractors were also continuing periodic checks. The report did not provide a final cleanup deadline, a final environmental report or a complete determination of responsibility for every part of the response. Its statement about CSX responsibility applied specifically to the adipic-acid car.

What Feasterville-Trevose residents should watch

The latest approved official status is dated July 8, 2026, not July 30. Conditions may have changed after that report, but no newer source is included in the approved record for this article.

Residents should therefore separate two developments: emergency restrictions were lifted after inspections found no reported leaks or threatened waterways, while rail cleanup and monitoring were still active in the latest official update. A final offload schedule, environmental closeout and confirmation that all cleanup work is complete were not established in that record.
