How the Greensboro project got here

The financing review follows a June 15 groundbreaking at Piedmont Triad International Airport. North Carolina Commerce described the event as the start of JetZero’s first commercial airplane manufacturing facility.

State officials have described the project as a projected investment of more than $4.7 billion with more than 14,500 projected aerospace manufacturing jobs. Those figures are projections associated with the planned project, not jobs already created or investment already completed.

The state’s announcement also linked the project to a planned research and development center for composite structures and JetZero’s proposed all-wing commercial aircraft. Future construction, hiring and production milestones remain separate from the confirmed groundbreaking and the signed letter of interest.

For Greensboro-area workers and job seekers, the project could eventually create demand for aerospace manufacturing, engineering, maintenance, logistics and construction skills if the planned campus advances.
