Los Angeles CA - South L.A. LAnow riders lose the free launch period on June 30, with LADOT's regular on-demand shuttle fares starting July 1.

South Los Angeles riders who have been using LADOT’s LAnow on-demand shuttle for free will start paying regular fares after June 30, 2026. LADOT says the South L.A. launch offer ends that day, and the standard fare schedule takes effect on July 1, 2026.

This is a fare change, not a service shutdown. LAnow is a shared-ride, on-demand service designed for short local trips and first-mile, last-mile connections inside the service area.

What riders will pay

According to LADOT Transit’s LAnow service page, South L.A. fares will be $1.50 for adults and children age 5 and older. Students, seniors 65 and older, and riders with disabilities will pay $0.75. Children 4 and under ride free.

The service page also says LAnow South L.A. operates Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m., excluding holidays. Riders reserve trips through the app, and LADOT says pickup and drop-off points are set within the service area.

Why the deadline matters

The new fare is modest, but it still matters for frequent users who rely on LAnow for repeated short trips. That includes workers, students, seniors, and riders with disabilities who use the shuttle as a low-cost connection to the rest of the transit network.

For South L.A. residents who have come to count on LAnow as a free launch service, the important date is simple: free rides end on June 30, and paid rides begin on July 1.
