Westbound SR-4 travelers (detour): From SR-4, take Roberts Road south, continue west on Howard Road, go south to Tracy Boulevard, then take I-205 west. Exit Mountain House Parkway, travel north to Byron Road, and then return to SR-4.

Eastbound SR-4 travelers (detour): From SR-4, take Byron Road south to Mountain House Parkway, then go south to I-205 East. Exit Tracy Blvd, head north to Howard Road, go east to Roberts Road, and then return to SR-4.

Local access rule: Caltrans stated that only local residents and business owners would have access to locations within the closure limits. If you were not part of that local-access group, Caltrans directed non-local travelers to use the detour.

Caltrans warned motorists to be prepared for detour congestion. The agency said potential delays were expected to be approximately 30 to 40 minutes during the closure, and motorists should also expect 5-to-10-minute delays and use alternate routes whenever possible.
