The City of Olney says the TCEQ-required boil-water notice for the City of Olney public water system (PWS ID: TX2520003) has been rescinded effective June 18, 2026. That means the city says tap water no longer needs to be boiled for drinking or human consumption as of that date.

What happened, and when did Olney say boiling ended?

According to the city’s posted rescind notice:

June 17, 2026: TCEQ required Olney’s public water system to issue a boil-water notice because of conditions that occurred recently in the public water system.
June 18, 2026: Olney says boiling was no longer required after corrective actions and water-quality/testing results.

TCEQ explains that to rescind (lift) a boil-water notice, a public water system must—among other items—correct the underlying condition (or determine the water no longer poses an acute health risk), flush and ensure disinfectant residuals are consistently above regulatory minimums in the affected area (or entire distribution system), return the system to normal operating parameters, and collect special bacteriological samples marked for the rescind process and obtain negative coliform results. TCEQ also notes the system must issue the rescind notice in the same manner as the original notice and include required template details indicating the problem is resolved and the water is safe to drink without boiling.
