The Ohio Department of Development has requested approval to release $2 million in FY2026 roadwork grant funds for an OPmobility project in Rossford.

Ohio’s Department of Development has requested approval to release $2 million in FY2026 Roadwork Development Grant funds for the OPmobility Exterior USA project in Rossford.

The proposed recipient is the Wood County Port Authority. The Ohio Controlling Board request identifies the project as being in the City of Rossford, in Wood County, and says the grant would support roadwork needs connected to OPmobility Exterior USA, LLC.

The request represents a move toward funding the infrastructure tied to the industrial project. It does not establish that the grant has already been released, nor does it provide a construction completion date.

What the grant would support

Roadwork grants are intended to help provide transportation improvements associated with economic-development projects. In this case, the requested $2 million would go to the Wood County Port Authority for road improvements connected to the OPmobility project.

The grant could support construction activity and help accommodate manufacturing investment and employment in Rossford. However, the grant request does not state how many jobs the project would create, the amount of private investment involved or when construction would be completed.

The public action identified so far is the Department of Development’s request for approval to release the FY2026 funds. The request names the local port authority as the recipient rather than OPmobility directly.

A separate downtown corridor project

Rossford also has a separate transportation project underway downtown. A project description from the office of U.S. Rep. Marcy Kaptur says the Rossford Downtown Corridor Transformation is planned as a four-phase effort.

Phase I began June 1, 2026, with construction of a roundabout at State Route 65 and Bergin Street, according to the description. The broader corridor initiative is intended to improve safety, pedestrian access and economic development near Rossford High School.

The downtown corridor work and the OPmobility roadwork grant are separate projects. The corridor description outlines intended benefits for the area, but it does not show that all planned safety or pedestrian improvements have already been completed.

The next known step for the OPmobility-related funding is consideration of the state’s request to release the $2 million in FY2026 grant funds.
