Multiple Traffic Incidents in Lubbock
On January 28, 2026, emergency crews responded to several traffic accidents in Lubbock. At approximately 11:30 a.m., an accident with injuries occurred at the intersection of 19th Street and Chicago Avenue. Shortly after, around 11:50 a.m., another injury crash was reported near Interstate 27 at 29th and 30th Streets. Later that day, at 2:13 p.m., a traffic collision with injuries was reported near North Raleigh Avenue and 19th Street. Authorities are investigating these incidents and have not released further details at this time.
Texas Tech Basketball Show Returns
The “Red Raider Basketball with Grant McCasland” radio show is set to return tonight, January 29, 2026, from 6 to 7 p.m. at Rudy’s Country Store and BBQ. Black Ice Warning Issued for Lubbock
Residents are advised to exercise caution during the morning commute due to reported black ice on roadways, particularly at intersections and on bridges and overpasses. While temperatures remained above freezing early Thursday morning, patchy black ice was observed. Drivers should allow extra distance between vehicles and reduce speed on all roadways. Conditions are expected to improve by the afternoon as temperatures rise.
