New Restaurant Openings in Torrance

North Italia Opens at Del Amo Fashion Center

North Italia, a popular Italian restaurant chain, has opened a new location in Torrance at 21532 Hawthorne Blvd. This marks the sixth California location for the brand, which also has sites in Santa Monica, El Segundo, Irvine, and two in San Diego. The new Torrance location is situated in the former space of Brio Coastal Bar and Kitchen, adjacent to Frida’s Mexican Cuisine. Other new eateries expected to open in the Del Amo Fashion Center before the end of the year include Keisuke Ramen, sweetgreen, Slater’s 50/50, Starbucks Kiosk, and Kitchen of Korea. North Italia is part of Fox Restaurant Concepts, founded by Sam Fox, a 10-time James Beard Award semifinalist for Restaurateur of the Year. In late 2019, Fox Restaurant Concepts and North Italia were sold to The Cheesecake Factory Incorporated for $308 million.

Mumu Hot Pot to Debut in Southern California

Mumu Hot Pot, known for its personalized dining experience with individual hot pot sets, is preparing to open its first Southern California location in Torrance at 3525 W Carson Street, Suite 170. This will be the company’s seventh location, following establishments in Pleasanton, Sunnyvale, Foster City, Emeryville, and San Francisco. The new Torrance location will occupy the former space of Vegas Buffet in the Del Amo Fashion Center. Mumu Hot Pot offers a variety of broths, including Sichuan Spicy, Sukiyaki, Tomato, and Miso, along with combo sets featuring options like Meat-Lover, Vegetarian, and Seafood selections, as well as premium options such as A5 Wagyu and Kurobuta pork. The restaurant also features a sauce bar, allowing customers to create custom dipping sauces.

City Council Approves New Armed Forces Day Parade Concept

The Torrance City Council has approved a modernized concept for the 64th Annual Armed Forces Day Parade and Celebration, relocating the event to the Torrance Municipal Airport. Scheduled for May 15-17, 2026, the three-day celebration at Zamperini Field will feature an aircraft and military vehicle exhibit, a 5K hosted by the Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce, community booths, and family activities. The parade will follow a unique route along the airport runway, providing a memorable experience for participants and spectators. Emergency Closure of Los Angeles and Santa Ana Divisions

The Los Angeles and Santa Ana Divisions of the United States Bankruptcy Court will close at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, January 30, 2026, due to anticipated protest activity in the downtown Los Angeles and Santa Ana areas. Emergency filings that cannot be filed electronically through CM/ECF on that day may be filed at one of the Court’s other open divisions during regular office hours. The Court’s automated systems will remain operational and unaffected by the closure.
