Drunk Driving Incident Leads to Unusual Crash
Early Friday morning, a 24-year-old Ypsilanti woman was arrested for drunk driving after her vehicle collided with a guide wire, causing it to become nearly vertical and land on a street sign. The driver had a blood alcohol content of 0.17, more than twice the legal limit. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. Authorities are reminding the public to avoid driving under the influence.
Threat at Haisley Elementary School
On Friday, an 18-year-old was charged after making threats toward Haisley Elementary School as students were being dismissed. The suspect allegedly threatened to harm individuals at the school with a firearm. A search of the suspect’s home did not yield any firearms. The Washtenaw County Prosecutor’s Office authorized charges, including one felony count of making terroristic threats and one misdemeanor count of making school threats. A $250,000 bond and a GPS tether have been requested to prevent the suspect from returning to school grounds if released. A no-trespass order has also been issued, barring the suspect from all Ann Arbor Public Schools properties. Police Investigate Shooting at Vehicle with Teens
On Thursday afternoon, a group of shooters fired approximately 25 rounds at a car occupied by four teenagers in the 15-16 age range. The incident occurred around 4:45 p.m. in a parking lot along Arrowwood Trail. The vehicle crashed into a tree, but the occupants fled the scene and were unharmed. Nearby homes and an unrelated vehicle were also struck by bullets. Police are actively searching for the suspects and do not believe the shooting was random.
