Savage Daily Brief — School Board Vote, Community Meetings, and What’s Ahead
School Board Vote Draws Regional Attention
The Prior Lake–Savage Area School Board voted earlier this week to dissolve its long‑standing equity and inclusion resolution. The resolution, adopted in 2020, outlined district commitments to inclusive and anti‑racist practices.
The decision followed a divided board vote and public comment from both supporters and critics. Some residents argued the resolution had become outdated, while others said removing it sends the wrong message during a period of budget pressure and possible school changes.
District Town Hall Held in Savage
A district town hall meeting was held Thursday evening at Hidden Oaks Middle School, giving families a chance to ask questions about enrollment trends, finances, and long‑range planning.
District leaders continue to signal that budget balancing and enrollment stabilization will remain top priorities through the spring. Additional meetings are scheduled later this month for residents who were unable to attend.
City and Business Events on the Calendar
Looking ahead, the Savage Chamber of Commerce has announced several February events, including a mid‑month State of the City address and business networking gatherings. These events are expected to focus on development, city services, and economic conditions in and around Savage.
Residents can also expect a steady run of city meetings throughout February, including public safety, planning, and council sessions as the city moves through its winter schedule.
What to Watch
Education funding decisions, community feedback, and city planning discussions are likely to remain front and center for Savage residents in the weeks ahead.
