The Ridgecrest Police Department is hosting a community town hall today from 9 to 11 a.m. in the City Hall council chambers on West California Avenue. The meeting focuses on the department’s use of Flock Safety license plate reader technology.

With the expo now over, attendees have a chance to follow up on contacts made during the sessions and to watch for future outreach events connected to the warfare center and local partners.

Public safety concerns and a community remembrance

Regional coverage this week has noted ongoing safety concerns in Kern County schools, as well as a January theft case linked to Ridgecrest. Local law enforcement are asking for the public’s help identifying a woman wanted for questioning in connection with that incident.

On a more reflective note, a community meetup is planned for Tuesday, February 10, at the Ridgecrest Pub to remember a local woman credited with helping shape area traditions and landmarks. Neighbors are invited to share stories and celebrate her impact.
