Snow emergencies posted in parts of central Ohio

Light-to-moderate snow and wind kept road crews busy Sunday, and several counties around the Columbus region issued snow emergencies as conditions deteriorated.

In the latest roundup, multiple counties were listed under Level 1, meaning roads may be hazardous and drivers should use extra caution. Knox County was listed at Level 2, which generally urges people to stay off the roads unless travel is necessary. No counties were listed at Level 3.

OSU nurses rally over the Wexner name on campus buildings

More than 100 people gathered outside Ohio State University’s new Wexner Medical Center tower on Sunday, the first day the facility opened, calling for the university to remove Les Wexner’s name from the hospital system and other buildings.

The demonstration was organized by the Ohio Nurses Association and included union members, students and community supporters. Organizers pointed to ongoing scrutiny of Wexner’s past relationship with Jeffrey Epstein, while the medical center said patient care and the move of hundreds of patients into the new hospital remained the priority and noted the university has an established renaming process.

Blendon Township officer resigns after acquittal in Ta’Kiya Young case

Connor Grubb, the Blendon Township officer acquitted last year in the death of Ta’Kiya Young, is resigning under an agreement with the township. The deal includes a $150,000 payment tied to benefits and backpay claims.

Township officials said the sustained public attention could create operational distractions and safety concerns. The family’s attorney said they were relieved Grubb will no longer police the township, while criticizing the terms of his departure and pointing to ongoing civil litigation.
