Public safety
Metro rolls out a new counterterrorism and intelligence expansion
Las Vegas police leadership this week outlined a new initiative dubbed the ‘Meridian Project,’ aimed at strengthening counterterrorism readiness with a larger intelligence footprint. The plan includes building a global information network, adding staffing focused on threat analysis, and operating a round-the-clock real-time analysis function to speed up how decision-makers get critical updates.
The announcement also included an effort described as an internal data-and-technology integration project, intended to help investigators connect information across systems more quickly when time matters most.
Detectives seek help after a shooting report on CC-215
Metro detectives are asking for witnesses and information tied to a reported freeway shooting on CC-215 eastbound near North Hualapai Way. Police say the incident occurred on February 16, and the public request was posted February 24. Investigators are looking for an older white sedan believed to have damage on the driver’s side. Police said no injuries were reported in the shooting.

Clark County approved $3 million for a temporary animal shelter site at Silver Bowl, intended to provide near-term breathing room as local shelters face crowding pressures.
