Local agencies on alert amid Iran developments
San Diego police and state emergency officials said they are monitoring developments in Iran and the broader region for any impact here at home. Officials said there were no known credible threats at the time of the update, but patrols and intelligence teams were paying extra attention to sensitive sites such as religious institutions and cultural centers.
Wildfire prevention during a wetter window
With recent rain temporarily lowering wildfire risk into a more moderate tier, Cal Fire says crews are using the window to clear brush and test new tools, including remotely operated equipment designed to help reduce fuels in hard-to-reach areas. Fire officials emphasized that the break is temporary, and risk can climb again as temperatures rise and vegetation dries.
County tax-default property auction deadlines
Interested buyers have a near-term deadline: the county treasurer says the cutoff for the current tax auction is March 5. The county says hundreds of properties are included after being in tax default for five or more years, with online bidding scheduled for mid-March.
