FDA recall: PEDIGREE 13.2‑oz wet dog food two lots may contain sharp metal and plastic—check lot codes 613C3KKCFC & 613C1KKCFC
FDA posted a voluntary recall on July 2, 2026 warning that two specific lots of PEDIGREE Can High Protein Chopped Chicken & Duck Flavor wet dog food (13.2 oz) may contain sharp metal and plastic foreign material.
FDA’s notice says the affected product was fraudulently diverted after it was set for destruction and sold into the U.S. marketplace. As of the recall posting, FDA states it has received no related reports of pet illness or injury.
Which PEDIGREE product is affected (check the lot code on the can)
Do not rely on the front label alone. The recall applies to only two lot codes, printed on the bottom of the can:
- 613C3KKCFC
- 613C1KKCFC
If your can matches neither lot code, the recall does not cover it (FDA describes the scope as limited to these two lots).
What risk FDA says is possible
According to the FDA recall notice, the concern is hard/sharp metal and plastic foreign material inside the affected cans. FDA describes potential harm from sharp objects, including choking, lacerations, or gastrointestinal tract blockage if a pet ingests foreign material.
Again, FDA says it has received no related reports of illness or injury as of the recall posting.
What pet owners should do now
If you have cans from either affected lot:
- Stop feeding the recalled lot immediately.
- Check the lot code printed on the bottom of the can.
- Contact PEDIGREE Consumer Care for a replacement, and keep your lot information available.

If you already fed the product
