Jonesville’s 2026 candidate field appears uncontested for now
Yadkin County’s posted candidate information shows three candidates for Jonesville’s 2026 municipal election: Anita Darnell for mayor and Andy Green and Scott Darnell for two Town Council Member seats.
The municipal filing period ran from July 6 at 8 a.m. through July 17 at noon. Because the number of listed candidates matches the number of available seats, the Jonesville mayoral and Town Council Member races appear uncontested at this stage.
What the posted list means
The county’s information reflects the current candidate field, not a certified election result. The candidates have not been declared elected, and the posting should not be treated as the final certified ballot.
The North Carolina State Board of Elections says 2026 candidate lists are not always final and may be updated before the election. Any later changes would need to be reflected by county or state election authorities.
How the candidates fit the current town government
The Town of Jonesville’s current governing-body page identifies Anita Darnell as mayor, Andy Green as mayor pro tempore and C. Scott Darnell as a commissioner. The page lists terms for all three offices as expiring in 2026.
That means the current officeholders are also the names shown in the county’s posted candidate information for the mayoral and two-member council contests. The current governing body and the 2026 election process remain separate matters, however.
Important dates for Jonesville voters
Voter registration for the November 3, 2026, general election ends October 9 at 5 p.m.
Early voting is scheduled for October 15 through October 31 at the Yadkin County Board of Elections office, 1300 Unifi Industrial Road in Yadkinville. The posted hours are 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on weekdays during the early-voting period, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays October 17 and October 24, and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, October 31. The site is in Yadkinville, not Jonesville. The office is closed for early voting on Sundays.
Voters who want to cast a civilian absentee ballot by mail must request one by October 20 at 5 p.m. Election Day voting is scheduled for November 3 from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. at assigned precincts.
Jonesville voters should check the Yadkin County Board of Elections and the North Carolina State Board of Elections for later candidate-list updates, ballot information, early-voting details and assigned polling places. The county’s current posting suggests uncontested municipal races, but it is not a final election result.
