Harlingen-Area Gas Prices Ease as Diesel Hits $5.181

Regular gasoline is cheaper than it was last week across the Brownsville-Harlingen market, but diesel is moving in the opposite direction over longer comparison periods and remains above $5.18 per gallon.

AAA’s July 30, 2026, price check put regular gasoline at an average of $3.542 per gallon in the Brownsville-Harlingen metro area. That was down 3.8 cents from the previous day and down 22.7 cents from a week earlier. The average was still 26.7 cents higher than a month ago and 88.9 cents higher than a year ago.

Diesel remains above $5.18

Diesel averaged $5.181 per gallon in the same metro area on July 30. The price was nearly flat from the prior day, rising 0.6 cents, but it was up 20.5 cents from the previous week. Compared with a month ago, diesel was $1.132 higher, and it was $1.928 higher than a year earlier.

That split matters for Harlingen-area drivers because gasoline costs are showing some short-term relief while diesel-dependent operations are facing much steeper increases over the month and year.
