Freehold Regional District Removes Teacher After Englishtown Man’s Arrest
Englishtown families are affected after the regional district removed a Freehold Township High School teacher from duty following his arrest on charges involving a student.
The Freehold Regional High School District said July 14 that it removed a Freehold Township High School teacher from his duties and all district property after his arrest on charges involving alleged sexual conduct with a student under 18.
The case has a direct Englishtown connection. The accused, Jesse L. Heubel, 37, was identified by local reports as an Englishtown resident. The Freehold Regional High School District is headquartered in Englishtown and serves students in grades 9 through 12 across its regional system.
What the district said
In a statement from Superintendent Nicole P. Hazel, the district said its Board of Education and administration were cooperating with the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, law enforcement and other agencies involved in the investigation.
The district said it had taken steps to protect students, including removing Heubel from his duties and from all district property “pending the determination of these charges.” The administrative action is separate from the criminal case and does not establish criminal wrongdoing.
District officials also said they were asked by law enforcement and other agencies to limit public comments and information that could interfere with the ongoing investigation. The district said student safety and welfare remained its highest priority and that it was prepared to provide support to students who needed it.
Charges and case status
News 12 New Jersey reported that Heubel faces multiple counts of endangering the welfare of a child and sexual assault. The charges were filed in connection with alleged acts reported to have occurred in Freehold Township, Englishtown, Manalapan Township and Red Bank.
WBJB reported that the Englishtown charges include one count of second-degree endangering the welfare of a child and one count of second-degree sexual assault. The reports said the alleged conduct began in November 2025. No details identifying the student were released, and none are included here.
According to the reports, Heubel turned himself in and was transported to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution pending proceedings in Monmouth County Superior Court.
Why it matters locally
For Englishtown families, the matter involves both a local resident and the regional high school district’s headquarters in the borough. Students from Englishtown are part of the district’s high-school service area, making the district’s response relevant to parents, students and residents even though the reported school location is in Freehold Township.
The investigation and court process remain ongoing. The charges are allegations, and Heubel is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
