Salinas Gas and Diesel Prices Higher Than a Week Ago
AAAโs July 31 Salinas metro averages show regular gas at $5.763 and diesel at $6.840, with both fuels above their week-ago levels.
Regular gasoline and diesel prices in the Salinas metro area remain elevated, with both fuel averages higher than they were a week earlier in AAAโs July 31, 2026 price check.
AAA listed regular gasoline at $5.763 per gallon and diesel at $6.840 per gallon. These are metro averages, not guaranteed prices at every station in Salinas or nearby communities.
Regular gasoline is up from last week
Regular gasoline was 4.9 cents higher than a week earlier. It was also 26.5 cents above the month-ago average and $1.036 higher than a year ago.
The daily comparison moved in the other direction: regular gas was 0.7 cents lower than the previous dayโs average. That leaves the latest reading slightly below yesterdayโs level while remaining higher over the longer weekly, monthly and yearly comparisons.
Diesel rises from yesterday and last week
Diesel reached $6.840 per gallon, up 3.8 cents from the previous daily reading and 3.4 cents from a week earlier. Diesel was 27.5 cents higher than a month ago and $1.380 higher than a year earlier.
The diesel increase matters most for operations that use heavy vehicles or equipment. Agricultural operations, trucking and delivery routes, construction, landscaping and other service businesses may be exposed to diesel costs through fuel use, transportation contracts or operating surcharges.
What elevated fuel prices can mean locally
For households, gasoline costs can affect regular commutes, school transportation, medical appointments and weekend travel. In the Salinas Valley, fuel expenses can also be part of the cost of moving workers, produce, supplies and equipment.
Businesses will experience the effect differently depending on fleet size, contracts and whether they can adjust delivery or service charges. Restaurants, contractors and service companies may face higher transportation expenses, but the metro averages do not show how any specific local business is responding.
Metro average versus pump price
Drivers should compare several stations before filling up. Actual prices can vary by neighborhood, fuel grade, payment method, brand and station-specific pricing. A metro average helps show the direction of prices but does not predict the exact price on a particular station sign.
