Inglewood-area regular gas reaches $5.707; diesel hits $7.108

Fuel costs remain elevated for Inglewood-area drivers, with regular gasoline and diesel both higher in AAA’s latest Los Angeles-Long Beach metro check on July 31, 2026.

AAA listed the metro average for regular gasoline at $5.707 per gallon. That was up 0.6 cents from the previous day, 6.2 cents from a week earlier, 26.8 cents from a month earlier and $1.236 from the same point last year.

Diesel is climbing faster over the past month

The metro diesel average reached $7.108 per gallon, according to AAA. Diesel was up 1.8 cents from the previous day, 9.9 cents from the prior week, 41.4 cents from the previous month and $1.954 from a year earlier.

The monthly increase is especially notable for diesel users. Delivery companies, contractors, commercial fleets, service businesses and operators of larger vehicles may face higher operating costs when diesel rises sharply, although the price data does not show how individual businesses are responding.

One Inglewood station was below the metro average

A 7-Eleven station at 3311 W. Century Blvd. listed regular gasoline at $5.539 per gallon in a station-price update that said the figure had been updated within 24 hours.

That listing was about 16.8 cents below the AAA metro average, but the figures are not interchangeable. AAA’s numbers represent a regional average across the Los Angeles-Long Beach area, while the 7-Eleven listing reflects one Inglewood location at a particular moment. Prices can vary by station, neighborhood, brand and update time, so drivers may find meaningful differences before filling up.

California tax rates also changed July 1

California’s gasoline excise-tax rate increased to 63.4 cents per gallon on July 1, 2026, from 61.2 cents. The diesel rate rose to 48.2 cents from 46.6 cents, according to a California Department of Tax and Fee Administration notice. The notice explains that the rates are adjusted annually under state law.

The tax adjustment is one factor in the cost of fuel, but it should not be treated as the sole explanation for the broader price movement. For Inglewood households, commuters and local businesses, the practical effect is continued pressure on transportation budgets. Higher pump prices can also become a cost to watch for deliveries, mobile service calls, restaurant supply runs and other businesses that depend on frequent driving.
