Troy-Area Gas and Diesel Prices Rise Again as August Travel Begins
Regular gasoline and diesel both became more expensive in the latest Albany-Schenectady-Troy fuel-price check, with diesel posting the sharper increases.
AAA’s July 31, 2026 data put the Albany-Schenectady-Troy metro average for regular gasoline at $4.187 per gallon, up $0.001 from the previous day. The average was $0.029 higher than a week earlier, $0.189 higher than a month earlier and $1.089 higher than a year earlier.
Diesel reached $5.424 per gallon, up $0.017 from the prior day. Diesel was $0.138 higher than a week earlier, $0.208 higher than a month earlier and $1.654 higher than a year ago. Diesel therefore rose more than regular gasoline in both the latest daily and weekly comparisons.
A Troy pump snapshot
A 7-Eleven/Speedway station at 175 Hoosick St. in Troy listed regular gasoline at $4.199 per gallon and diesel at $5.499. The station page said its gas prices had been updated within 24 hours.
That listing is a single-station snapshot, not a citywide Troy average. It was 1.2 cents above the metro regular-gas average and 7.5 cents above the metro diesel average. Prices can vary by station and may change during the day.
Why the increase matters locally
For Troy commuters, the regular-gas increase adds to the cost of daily driving and August weekend trips. Diesel prices can have a wider effect because they influence operating costs for delivery vehicles, contractors, service businesses and freight operators, as well as restaurants that depend on regular deliveries.
Households may also see higher fuel costs reflected indirectly in delivery charges, service-call pricing and the cost of moving goods. Those effects will vary by business and are not proof that any particular company has raised prices.
Drivers should compare nearby stations rather than treating one pump sign as representative of the entire Troy market. Share the highest and lowest prices you are seeing locally, along with the neighborhood or intersection, so other readers can compare their options.
