Sammamish Gas Near $5.32 as Diesel Tops $6.31 in AAA Check

Regular gasoline and diesel are moving in different directions around Sammamish. AAA’s July 31 price check put the Seattle-Bellevue-Everett metro average at $5.319 per gallon for regular gasoline and $6.311 for diesel.

Those are metro averages, not citywide averages for Sammamish. They provide the closest AAA comparison for local drivers because AAA does not publish a separate Sammamish row.

Regular gas is up for the week but down for the month

The metro regular-gas average was $5.319 on July 31, compared with $5.296 a week earlier. That is an increase of 2.3 cents per gallon. The price was nevertheless 16.3 cents below the $5.482 average recorded a month earlier.

Regular gasoline was also higher than a year earlier. AAA listed the Seattle-Bellevue-Everett average at $4.585 a year ago, putting the latest price 73.4 cents higher.

Diesel rises weekly and remains nearly flat monthly

Diesel reached a $6.311-per-gallon average across the Seattle-Bellevue-Everett metro on July 31. That was 9.4 cents higher than the $6.217 average from a week earlier.

Compared with a month earlier, however, diesel was nearly unchanged. AAA listed the prior monthly average at $6.316, just 0.5 cents above the latest figure. Diesel was $1.149 higher than the $5.162 average recorded a year earlier.

Sammamish station listings show local variation

A Way station listing showed regular gasoline at $5.49 at the Shell station at 22631 NE Inglewood Hill Road in Sammamish. That was 17.1 cents above the broader metro average, but it should not be treated as representative of every station in the city.

The same listing showed regular gas at $4.99 at the 76 station at 740 228th Avenue NE. The two listings illustrate why drivers may want to compare several locations before filling up. Station prices can vary even when the broader metro average is moving only slightly.

For commuters and households, the weekly increase in regular gas adds to the cost of each fill-up even though the monthly trend has eased. Diesel’s weekly increase creates added pressure for contractors, delivery operators, maintenance companies and other businesses that use diesel-powered trucks, vans or equipment.

Those higher fuel costs can affect operating budgets for service calls, deliveries and weekend travel. The available data does not show that Sammamish businesses have already changed prices or operations because of this update.
