Tucson Gas and Diesel Prices Rise Again Before the Weekend

Tucson-area drivers are paying more for both regular gasoline and diesel, according to AAA’s July 31, 2026 price check. Regular gas averaged $4.411 per gallon across the Tucson metro area, up 4.4 cents from the previous day. Diesel averaged $5.498 per gallon, a daily increase of 5.7 cents.

Regular gas is higher across every comparison window

AAA’s Tucson metro figures show regular gasoline up 12.2 cents from a week earlier, 54.9 cents from a month earlier and $1.360 from a year earlier.

Compared with the previous Tucson check, when regular gas averaged $4.367, a 15-gallon fill-up at the metro average now costs about 66 cents more. Actual prices vary by station, neighborhood, fuel grade and payment method.

Diesel rises faster in dollar terms

Diesel increased 18.9 cents from a week earlier, 57.9 cents from a month earlier and $1.878 from a year earlier. The current Tucson metro average is up from $5.441 at the previous check.

Based on the 5.7-cent daily increase, a 50-gallon diesel fill-up costs about $2.85 more than it would have at the previous day’s metro average. That can add pressure for delivery operators, contractors, farmers, service companies and other businesses that rely on diesel-powered vehicles or equipment.

What higher pump prices can mean locally

For commuters and households, the immediate effect is a larger transportation bill, especially for people driving long distances or filling up more than once a week. Contractors, delivery drivers and mobile service businesses may face higher operating costs, while restaurants and retailers could eventually feel pressure through delivery and supply expenses. Weekend travelers may want to compare pumps before leaving town.

AAA lists Tucson’s metro averages separately from Arizona’s statewide figures. The U.S. Energy Information Administration provides broader national gasoline and diesel data, but the Tucson figures are the most relevant measure for local drivers.
