Newport Beach Fuel Prices: Orange County Gas at $5.667, Diesel at $7.008
AAAโs August 1 check put Orange County regular gas at $5.667 and diesel at $7.008, while Newport Beach listings ranged from $4.99 to $5.39.
Newport Beach drivers are seeing higher fuel costs in the latest Orange County comparison. AAAโs August 1, 2026 price check listed the county average at $5.667 per gallon for regular gasoline and $7.008 for diesel. Those are Orange County averages, not Newport Beach citywide averages, and individual pump prices can differ substantially.
Regular gasoline is higher than every comparison point
AAA listed regular gasoline 0.3 cents higher than the previous day, 4.4 cents higher than a week earlier, 36.8 cents higher than a month earlier and $1.248 higher than a year earlier.
For Newport Beach commuters and households, the longer-term increases are more significant than the day-to-day change. A 15-gallon fill-up at the Orange County average would cost about $85.01 before taxes, payment-method differences or other purchase adjustments. Actual costs depend on the station, vehicle and fuel grade.
Diesel has moved above $7 per gallon
Diesel was also higher in each AAA comparison. The county average rose 1.5 cents from the previous day, 6.9 cents from the previous week, 53.5 cents from the previous month and $1.978 from the same point last year.
That matters for contractors, delivery operators, service businesses and other companies that rely on diesel vehicles. Higher fuel costs can raise operating expenses and may put pressure on delivery charges or service prices, although the available data does not identify a specific cause for the increase.
Newport Beach station listings show a meaningful spread
Newport Beach listings reviewed August 1 showed regular gasoline ranging from $4.99 to $5.39 among stations with reported prices. The lowest listed regular price was $4.99 at the 76 station at 3401 Newport Blvd. Other listings included $5.19 at Shell, 1600 Jamboree Road, and Chevron, 1240 Bison Avenue. Chevron locations on Superior Avenue, 1550 Jamboree Road and Southeast Bristol Street were listed at $5.29 or $5.39.
The same station listings showed diesel at $5.99 at Chevron, 1550 Jamboree Road. That is an individual station listing, not a Newport Beach or Orange County average. Station listing times may differ from the AAA snapshot and from one another, so drivers should check the price before assuming it remains unchanged. The listed range does not represent every Newport Beach station.
The difference between stations could matter for households with multiple vehicles, weekend travelers and businesses that refuel regularly. Commuters, contractors, delivery drivers and local service operators may see materially different costs depending on both the station and the fuel type.
