DeLand voters face an August 18 election with three city contests
DeLand voters will decide the mayor and two City Commission seats on August 18, with early voting and vote-by-mail request deadlines approaching.
DeLand’s municipal election is scheduled for Tuesday, August 18, 2026, and voters will decide three city contests: mayor and City Commission Seats 3 and 5. Several voting-service deadlines remain before Election Day, while the deadline to register or update party affiliation has already passed.
What DeLand voters are deciding
The City of DeLand identifies the contests as mayor and City Commission Seats 3 and 5. The city’s municipal elections are nonpartisan, and City Commission seats are elected at-large rather than by district.
The city says a runoff will be held only if no candidate for a seat receives a majority of the votes cast in the August election. If required, that runoff is scheduled for November 3, 2026. A runoff is not automatic.
Deadlines that still matter
The Volusia County Supervisor of Elections lists Thursday, August 6, at 5 p.m. as the deadline to request a vote-by-mail ballot. Requesting a ballot is separate from returning a completed ballot, so voters using that option should follow the county’s instructions for completing and returning it.
Early voting is scheduled for August 8 through August 15, with listed early-voting sites open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. The county elections office provides the current list of early-voting locations.
Election Day is August 18, with polls scheduled to be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
What has already passed
The deadline to register to vote or update party affiliation for this election was July 20, 2026. As of August 1, that deadline has passed for the August 18 election.
How to check your voting details
DeLand voters should use the Volusia County Supervisor of Elections for operative election information, including polling-place lookup, sample-ballot access, vote-by-mail requests and ballot tracking, and early-voting locations.
The August 18 ballot may also include county, state or federal contests. Those offices are separate from DeLand’s municipal contests. Voters should review their own sample ballot to see the complete list of races available to them.
