Ventura Gas Prices Hold Near $5.63 as Diesel Climbs Above $7

Regular gasoline prices in the Ventura area were nearly unchanged on August 1, 2026, while diesel moved above $7 per gallon in the latest AAA metro price check.

AAA listed the Ventura metro average for regular gasoline at $5.630 per gallon. That was down $0.003 from the previous day, but still higher than the comparable figures from a week, month and year earlier.

Gasoline eased slightly but remains above earlier benchmarks

The regular-gas average was up $0.038 from a week earlier, $0.266 from a month earlier and $1.122 from a year earlier. The small daily decline does not change the broader pattern: the Ventura metro average was higher than it was during each of those longer comparison periods.

For commuters and households, the difference between a nearly flat daily reading and a higher weekly or yearly trend matters. A small move at the pump may not change a single fill-up much, but repeated trips can add to monthly transportation costs, especially for people with long commutes or multiple vehicles.

Diesel crossed the $7 mark

AAA put the Ventura metro diesel average at $7.023 per gallon on August 1. Diesel increased $0.009 from the prior day and was up $0.088 from a week earlier, $0.413 from a month earlier and $1.834 from a year earlier.

The diesel increase has a more direct effect on commercial and heavy-duty operators. Contractors, delivery drivers, landscapers, service companies and other businesses that rely on diesel vehicles may face higher operating costs when prices remain elevated. Those costs can affect trip planning, service areas and, in some cases, prices charged to customers, although the effect will vary by business.

Restaurants and retailers may also feel indirect pressure if suppliers or delivery fleets spend more to move goods. That does not mean every local business will pass along the same cost or do so immediately, but sustained diesel increases can make transportation a larger part of operating expenses.
