Lubbock ISD reports new virtual school for K-12 students across Texas

Lubbock ISD is launching LIVE: Lubbock ISD Virtual Education, a new online K-12 education program that the district says is open to students across Texas.

KCBD reported on July 20, 2026, that the program is available to any K-12 student in Texas, although space is limited. The district also said the program is being launched through a new partnership, but did not identify the partner or provide all operating details in the announcement.

Families considering LIVE should confirm the current eligibility rules, application process and remaining capacity directly with Lubbock ISD before applying.

What families should know

KCBD reported that applications for the upcoming school year would open during the week of July 20. The report listed 806-219-0000 and LIVE@lubbockisd.org for questions.

Lubbock ISD’s official Online Advancement Program page separately lists a Fall 2026 registration window from July 28 through August 19, 2026. It also lists an online orientation on August 24, 2026, from 5:30 to 6:15 p.m., and a session running from August 25 through November 5, 2026.

Those dates appear on a page labeled “Online Advancement Program.” The materials reviewed do not clearly confirm that the dates apply to LIVE, the newly reported K-12 virtual school. Families should treat them as the district’s published Online Advancement schedule and verify the correct dates and application form with Lubbock ISD before relying on them for LIVE.

Do not confuse LIVE with Online Advancement

Lubbock ISD describes the existing Online Advancement Program as an online course option for in-district and out-of-district students. Students complete coursework online, but final exams must be proctored, according to the district.

That is not the same as the newly reported LIVE K-12 virtual-school program. The available district page does not establish that Online Advancement’s course structure, proctoring rules, fees or other requirements apply to LIVE.

The Texas Education Agency describes its Texas Virtual School Network Online Schools Program as a structure for full-time online instruction through approved public-school districts and charter schools. That state background does not, by itself, establish LIVE’s eligibility rules, enrollment status or relationship to the network.

Lubbock-area families and families elsewhere in Texas should contact Lubbock ISD and specifically ask for the LIVE: Lubbock ISD Virtual Education application. Families should confirm:

• whether the student meets LIVE’s current eligibility requirements;
• which application form and documents are required;
• whether seats remain available;
• whether the August 19, 2026 deadline applies to LIVE or only to Online Advancement; and
• whether the August 24 orientation and August 25 start date apply to LIVE.
