Cordova Recreation & Park District names Chase Michelotti Parks & Recreation Director
The Cordova Recreation & Park District appointed Chase Michelotti as its new Parks & Recreation Director, a personnel change involving the district’s parks, recreation, golf and park-services operations in and around Rancho Cordova.
The district announced the appointment on July 22, 2026. Michelotti previously served as the district’s Recreation Superintendent and was selected after what the district described as a competitive recruitment process. The district’s staff directory now lists him as Parks & Recreation Director.
What the new director will oversee
Michelotti’s new responsibilities include oversight of the district’s Recreation, Golf Course and Park Services departments. The district said the role will help guide the operation and continued development of parks, facilities, programs and services throughout its community.
The assignment includes the Cordova Golf Course, which the district describes as a full-service 18-hole course with a lighted driving range, pro shop and PGA professional lessons.
Michelotti’s previous role
As Recreation Superintendent, Michelotti provided leadership and guidance for the district’s recreation programming and golf-course operations, according to the appointment announcement. The district also credited his tenure with program growth, improved operational efficiency and increased revenue.
Those descriptions are statements from the district about Michelotti’s prior record. The July 22 announcement did not identify a new budget, policy, project, fee change, schedule change or service expansion tied to his appointment.
Why the appointment matters in Rancho Cordova
The Cordova Recreation & Park District is an independent special district governed by an elected board, not a department of the City of Rancho Cordova. Its service area includes Rancho Cordova along with Gold River, Larchmont, Mather, Riviera East, Rosemont and additional unincorporated Sacramento County communities.
The district says it operates more than 50 parks and facilities across more than 600 acres of urban and open space. It also operates the golf course, hosts events and provides athletic, educational and creative programs for children and adults.
That reach makes the appointment relevant to Rancho Cordova residents who use district parks, recreation facilities, classes, sports offerings, community events and the golf course. Michelotti’s stated departmental oversight is districtwide; the announcement did not say that he would independently control every district decision.
What residents should expect now
Residents can continue using the district’s existing recreation guide, registration system, parks and facilities. The appointment announcement described a leadership change but did not announce immediate changes to programs, schedules, fees or facility operations.
