Highland County land bank plans sale of three cleared Hillsboro properties

Three cleared properties owned by the Highland County Land Reutilization Corporation may soon be marketed in Hillsboro, but sale prices, advertising details and timing were still pending after the board’s July 16, 2026, discussion.

Three Hillsboro parcels ready for possible sale

Land bank administrator Jason Johansen told the board that 11923 Elmhurst Trail, 10635 North Shore Road and 11410 Cathy’s Court had been cleared through the demolition program and were ready to sell.

Johansen proposed waiting until the August meeting to establish a solid price point for each property. He also said he wanted to research the surrounding land before deciding how to market the parcels, including the possibility of advertising all three together.

That means the properties had been prepared for a potential sale, not listed or sold. As of the July 16 meeting, the land bank had not approved final prices, a listing method or a sale schedule.

Holiday Way demolition gets replacement contractor

The board also approved Paul Williams Wrecking as the contractor for the 2026 demolition project at 11428 Holiday Way in Hillsboro. The approved amount was $3,980.

The replacement bid followed the original contractor’s decision to step down after an electrical-disconnection issue at the property. The second bidder declined to accept the work, so the board approved the third bidder. The local report described the approved amount as $980 higher than the initial bid.

Board members discussed whether to seek additional funds from the property owner, who is required to pay a 25-percent match. The board chose to move forward without requesting additional payment. The contractor approval moves the project forward, but the available records do not establish that the demolition has been completed.

State list confirms Holiday Way award

The Ohio Department of Development’s April 2026 project list includes 11428 Holiday Way, Hillsboro, under the Highland County Land Reutilization Corporation’s Building Demolition and Site Revitalization award.

The state list confirms the address’s inclusion in the award program; it does not document the local contractor change or establish that work at the property is finished.

Why the land bank matters locally

The Ohio Auditor of State says the corporation is Highland County’s agent for reclaiming, rehabilitating and reusing vacant, abandoned, tax-foreclosed or other real property. Its stated purpose is to strengthen county neighborhoods by returning vacant and abandoned properties to productive use.

The land bank is governed by a five-member board that includes two county commissioners, the county treasurer, a Hillsboro representative and a Paint Township representative. For Hillsboro residents and potential buyers, the next practical step is to watch for the board’s August action on prices and advertising for the three cleared parcels, followed by any formal marketing announcement.
