Jacksonville opens public comment on 2026–2030 housing and community-development plan

Jacksonville has opened public comment on two planning documents that will guide the city’s federally supported housing and community-development priorities over the next several years.

On June 1, the City of Jacksonville published its 2026–2030 Consolidated Plan and its 2026 Action Plan for public review under the federal Community Development Block Grant program. The public-comment period runs through Aug. 16, 2026.

What the plans cover

The Consolidated Plan covers a five-year period, from 2026 through 2030. The separate Action Plan applies to 2026 and sets out the city’s planned actions for that year within the same federal community-development framework.

Together, the documents establish Jacksonville’s stated priorities for federally supported community development and housing. Those priorities can include potential investments involving housing, infrastructure and neighborhood needs.

The release of the plans for comment is not the same as final adoption. The city’s notice does not identify final project-by-project funding allocations or specify which Jacksonville neighborhoods or projects will receive awards.

How to review the documents

The city’s notice directs residents to review the materials in person at the Jacksonville Community Center, 5 Municipal Drive, Jacksonville, Arkansas.

The review period gives residents an opportunity to examine the proposed priorities before Jacksonville completes the planning process. Comments must be submitted through the city’s public-comment process by Aug. 16, 2026.

The deadline applies to both documents being presented for review: the five-year Consolidated Plan and the 2026 Action Plan. The plans concern the City of Jacksonville, which is the responsible government body and the jurisdiction covered by the notice.

What happens next

For now, the city is at the public-review stage. The Aug. 16 deadline comes before the plans are finalized, giving residents time to consider how Jacksonville’s federal community-development and housing priorities should be framed for 2026 and the years that follow.
