Owensboro Catholic rolls past Owensboro 35-7

Owensboro Catholic defeated Owensboro 35-7 Friday, Sept. 11, at Steele Stadium in a non-conference football game, using 223 rushing yards and four rushing touchdowns to pull away.

The Aces led 14-0 after the first quarter and 21-7 at halftime. Owensboro Catholic shut out Owensboro in the second half and added two touchdowns in the fourth quarter.

Shaiden Mitchell led the Aces with 122 rushing yards. Dre’Mail Carothers ran for 53 yards on 16 carries, while Ridge Roberts added 48 yards on 12 carries. Owensboro Catholic coach Jason Morris said the running game was necessary for the team’s success. Owensboro coach DaMarcus Ganaway said his team needed to improve its discipline, red-zone execution and fundamentals.

The win moved Owensboro Catholic to 3-1 and Owensboro to 2-2. Owensboro Catholic was scheduled to host Bardstown on Sept. 18, while Owensboro was scheduled to host Graves County.
