Jasper dedicates McMurry MediPlex with specialty care, air-rescue base
The Dr. Ron A. McMurry MediPlex was dedicated in Jasper on Oct. 7, 2026. Gov. Greg Abbott took part in the dedication and ribbon cutting, the Office of the Texas Governor said.
The complex includes dermatology, interventional pain-management and pediatric facilities, as well as an Air Evac Lifeteam air-rescue base known locally as Air Rescue 3. The governorโs release describes the MediPlex as serving the region. The dedication itself does not establish whether the facilities were accepting patients that day, and the release gave no patient-service opening date.
A Sept. 22 advance report by the Houston Chronicle listed the ceremony for 3 p.m. at 1100 Marvin Hancock Drive in Jasper. That was the announced schedule, not confirmation of the time the ceremony began.
Honoring a longtime Jasper physician
The complex is named for Dr. Ron A. McMurry, a longtime Jasper physician who served as a Jasper Hospital District director and president. McMurry died in January at age 82, the Chronicle reported.
During McMurryโs leadership, the district opened two clinics in 2024: Primary Care Pavilion in Jasper and Total Care at the Lake in Brookeland. The new complex brings the named specialty-care facilities and air-rescue base together at one Jasper site; no patient capacity, staffing or project cost was reported.
