FWS waives entrance fees at some wildlife sites today
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s one-day entrance-fee waiver is in effect Sunday, Oct. 11, at FWS lands that normally charge an entrance fee. Visitors to covered sites can enter without paying that fee.
FWS lists 30 entrance-fee-charging locations within the National Wildlife Refuge System. That is not a total count of the lands covered: the agency’s event listing does not specify the total number of FWS lands included in the waiver.
The waiver does not cover some concessionaire, permit or activity charges, including fees for hunting, fishing and special tours. National Wildlife Refuge Week runs Oct. 10–17, 2026. Visitors should check their chosen site’s hours, access conditions and any separate charges before going.
