Glenn Heights Daily Brief: Roads, Transit and Parks
Glenn Heights, TX — February 8, 2026 — Road work, DART tweaks and a nearly finished all-abilities park top today’s local updates for residents.
Good morning, Glenn Heights. Here’s a quick look at what’s changing around town this weekend, from roads and transit to parks and local programs.
South Uhl Road project edging closer to construction
The joint South Uhl Road improvement effort with neighboring Red Oak continues to move through final design and approvals. The two cities are partnering to upgrade the stretch from Ovilla Road to Harmony Way to full, long-term roadway standards instead of a more limited rebuild.
Glenn Heights has committed about $2.4 million to the project, while engineers refine drainage, traffic signal and utility relocation plans pending state transportation approval. Construction is planned to ramp up after those reviews, with completion still targeted for late 2026, meaning periodic lane closures and detours in the years ahead.
DART tweaks express bus schedule for commuters
Regional transit planners are adjusting Dallas Area Rapid Transit service, including changes that touch the Glenn Heights Park & Ride. The Route 306 express bus will shift from running every 15 minutes to every 20 minutes during the busiest commute hours.
No changes are planned for GoLink on-demand service or paratransit in the area, but riders may want to build a few extra minutes into their morning and evening trips. Officials are encouraging commuters to check the latest schedule before Monday to avoid surprises at the stop.
All-Abilities Park entering final stretch of work
At City Center, crews are closing in on a long-anticipated milestone: finishing the new All-Abilities Park. Recent work has focused on installing poured-in-place rubber playground surfacing, shaping final grades and landscaping, and preparing accessible restroom facilities.
The park is designed so children and adults of all ages and abilities can play side by side, with inclusive equipment, a walking trail and outdoor exercise stations. Weather can still shift the daily schedule, but city staff say the project is now in its final stages before opening to the public.
Around town: classes and seniors’ programs
The community recreation center continues to expand its lineup, from youth basketball skills camps and a new tumbling class to line dancing sessions and a free walking club. Seniors can also plug into weekday morning activities through the Senior Lifestyles Program, offering social time, light fitness and regular gatherings.
