City alerts and winter activities
City officials are warning residents about scam letters and text messages that pretend to be from the City of Springboro, asking for payments or inviting people to click links. Residents are urged not to respond, not to send money and to verify any message directly with city offices or the police before taking action.
The city is also spotlighting several winter programs at the Springboro Performing Arts Center, including “The Game,” an interactive family art exhibit built around puzzles and word games. Later this month, a free family movie day and a heart health workshop with medical presenters are scheduled, while the community wellness challenge and monthly treasure hunt bags in city parks continue to encourage residents to stay active.
School schedule notes and meetings
Springboro Schools is reminding families how schedule changes work when weather or other issues force delays or closures. As of early February, the district says all buildings remain above the state’s minimum instructional hours requirement, so recent disruptions have not triggered make-up days, though officials will keep monitoring hours.
Parents are also being encouraged to review the district’s two hour delay guidance, which outlines different pick up and drop off times for kindergarten, elementary, intermediate, junior high and high school students. Looking ahead, the Board of Education has a work session on Wednesday, Feb. 11 at the central office and a business meeting on Feb. 25 in the Springboro High School media center.
Daylight and a heads up for the evening
Today offers a bit more daylight than earlier in the winter, with sunrise around 7:38 a.m. and sunset near 6:04 p.m. If you are heading to evening events, expect it to be dark by the time most activities wrap up and plan extra time for driving and parking.
