Huntsville City Council approved TIF 9 and a separate 1% lodging tax on July 9, creating a financing framework for a proposed $220 million downtown project package led by an approximately $200 million Von Braun Center North Hall expansion.
The Huntsville City Council unanimously approved rezoning more than 500 acres north of Bob Wade Lane on July 23, 2026, for a proposed development expected to include about 1,800 housing units.

Huntsville’s municipal election is scheduled for Aug. 25, with City Council and Board of Education districts 2, 3 and 4 identified for the election. A District 3 town hall is scheduled for Aug. 4.
Huntsville’s TIF 9 will use future property-tax growth for downtown projects, while residents watch debt terms, project delivery and school-tax timing.
