House Fire in West Springfield Sends Four to Hospital
On January 28, 2026, a house fire in the 7900 block of Jansen Court in West Springfield resulted in two firefighters and two residents being hospitalized. The fire was reported just after 7 a.m., and one resident was transported with life-threatening injuries, while another sustained non-life-threatening injuries. The two firefighters were also hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. An additional occupant and two dogs were rescued from the home. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Robbery Investigation Near Fair City Mall
City of Fairfax Police are investigating a robbery that occurred near Wilcoxon Drive, west of Fair City Mall. Authorities believe the suspects fled into Fairfax County in a gray Chevrolet sedan with a Maryland license plate. There is no ongoing threat to the public. The Fairfax County police helicopter is assisting in the investigation. Residents are advised to avoid the area during this time.

The annual Chocolate Lovers Festival is scheduled for February 7–9 in Old Town Fairfax. The event will feature craft shows, historic building open houses, children’s activities, and vendors selling various chocolate products.
