Teen Arrested After Shooting Incident
Boise police arrested a 19-year-old woman from Twin Falls after she fled officers following a shooting on Sunday. The incident occurred early in the morning when shots were fired at a business in the 4300 block of West State Street. No injuries were reported, but the building sustained damage. The suspect, Alexandra Lopez, was apprehended after a brief pursuit that ended in a crash near North Lander Street and West Glendale Street. She faces charges of felony eluding and aiding and abetting. All three occupants of the vehicle were taken into custody safely.
Schools Briefly Shelter in Place Due to Police Activity
On Friday afternoon, three Boise schools—Timberline High School, Liberty Elementary, and White Pine Elementary—were placed under shelter-in-place orders due to nearby police activity. The Boise Police Department responded to a situation involving an armed, suicidal individual in a neighborhood off Apple Street. Tragically, the individual died by suicide before police arrived. The shelter-in-place orders were lifted around 3:15 p.m., and all students and staff were reported safe. Dismissals were delayed as a precautionary measure.
