Boise City metro regular gasoline and diesel prices both moved higher in AAAโs latest price check, with regular gas reaching $4.304 per gallon and diesel reaching $5.339 based on prices as of July 31, 2026.
Regular gasoline rose 1.1 cents from the previous dayโs $4.293 average. Diesel increased 0.6 cents from the previous dayโs $5.333 average.
Regular gas is up 8.2 cents from last week
The latest Boise City metro regular-gas average was 8.2 cents higher than a week earlier, when AAA listed it at $4.222 per gallon. Compared with one month ago, the average was up 26.7 cents from $4.037. Year over year, regular gas was up 79.5 cents from $3.509.
For households and commuters, the one-day increase is modest compared with the longer-term change. Drivers who commute frequently, make long-distance trips or are planning weekend travel may notice the larger effect of the monthly and yearly increases.
Diesel reaches $5.339 after another increase
AAA listed the Boise City metro diesel average at $5.339 per gallon, up 0.6 cents from the previous dayโs $5.333 average.
Diesel was up 20.6 cents from a week earlier, when the average was $5.133. The monthly increase was 69.6 cents from $4.643, while the year-over-year increase was $1.361 from $3.978 per gallon.
The diesel trend matters beyond the pump. Higher diesel costs can pressure operating expenses for trucking, delivery companies, contractors, construction crews, landscapers, agricultural operators, restaurants, repair businesses and other services that rely on diesel-powered vehicles or equipment. Those costs may affect transportation charges or business pricing, although the AAA data does not identify a specific cause for Boiseโs latest movement.
Regional context and what to watch
The U.S. Energy Information Administrationโs July 28 update placed the Rocky Mountain regional average at $4.083 for regular gasoline and $5.141 for on-highway diesel. That regional data provides broader context, but it does not replace the Boise-specific AAA figures or establish a cause for local price changes.
