West Jordan, UT — February 3, 2026 — A pedestrian was fatally struck on Redwood Road; city planners honored with an award; and new homes are coming soon to Terraine.
Fatal Pedestrian Accident on Redwood Road
On Monday morning, a pedestrian was tragically killed after being struck by a vehicle on Redwood Road near 9300 South. The incident occurred around 6:50 a.m. when the individual, in their 50s, was crossing outside of a crosswalk. The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities. The victim was transported to a local hospital but succumbed to their injuries. The West Jordan Police Department is continuing its investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident.
City Planners Receive APA Utah Outstanding Planning Award
West Jordan’s planning department has been recognized with the Outstanding Planning Award by the American Planning Association (APA), Utah Chapter. The award acknowledges the collaborative efforts between West Jordan, Midvale, the Utah Transit Authority (UTA), and other stakeholders in developing a comprehensive plan for the future of three TRAX stations: Bingham Junction, Historic Gardner, and City Center. This initiative aims to create vibrant, walkable communities centered around transit hubs, promoting sustainable development and enhancing the quality of life for residents.
New Homes Coming Soon to Terraine Community
David Weekley Homes has announced plans to build new homes in the Terraine community of West Jordan. The development will offer eight floor plans situated on 42- and 50-foot homesites. Residents will have access to amenities such as a pool, park, playground, walking trails, coffee shop, and library. The community is also set to feature mountain views and is served by the Jordan School District, including an on-site elementary school. Construction is expected to begin soon, providing additional housing options in the growing city.
