Alhambra, CA — February 4, 2026 — The city has commenced construction on a new $25 million community center, aiming to serve residents of all ages with various programs and facilities.
Project Overview
The 17,000-square-foot facility will feature:
- Leisure classes for seniors, adults, teens, and children
- Meeting and conference rooms
- Multipurpose spaces for fitness, arts, and enrichment activities
- An Emergency Operations Center
- Outdoor spaces
- A rooftop terrace with views of the San Gabriel Mountains
- A special event area with a pre-function courtyard and caterer’s kitchen
Funding and Support
The project is funded by $25 million in state funding, secured through the advocacy of Senator Susan Rubio and Assemblymember Mike Fong. Mayor Katherine Lee expressed gratitude for the support, stating, “Thanks to strong support at the state level, we’re turning an underutilized space into something truly meaningful.”
Construction Timeline
Construction activities are expected to begin later this fall, with a completion date to be determined. The community center is anticipated to become a dynamic hub for programs, events, and gatherings, enhancing the quality of life for Alhambra residents.
